Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

General Principles

Magyar Református Nevelés is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and transparency. The journal follows the principles and guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

The journal operates a double-blind peer review system.

Duties of Authors

Authors must:

  • Submit original work that has not been published elsewhere.
  • Properly cite all sources.
  • Confirm that the manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere.
  • Include all contributors as co-authors.
  • Declare any conflicts of interest.
  • Comply with research ethics standards.

Plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, or redundant publication will result in rejection

Duties of Editors

Editors:

  • Evaluate manuscripts solely on academic merit.
  • Ensure anonymity in the review process.
  • Handle conflicts of interest.
  • Investigate suspected ethical misconduct.
  • Publish corrections, retractions, or editorial notices when necessary.

Duties of Reviewers

Reviewers:

  • Provide objective and constructive feedback.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Report suspected plagiarism or ethical concerns.

Declare any conflicts of interest. 

Plagiarism and Misconduct

The journal has zero tolerance for:

  • Plagiarism
  • Self-plagiarism
  • Data fabrication or falsification
  • Duplicate publication

Cases will be handled according to COPE guidelines.

Retraction and Correction Policy

If serious ethical violations are confirmed:

  • The article will be retracted.
  • A public retraction notice will remain accessible.
  • Corrections or editorial expressions of concern may be issued.

Articles may be retracted in cases of:

  • serious errors that invalidate the results,
  • plagiarism,
  • duplicate publication,
  • unethical research or misconduct.

Retraction decisions are made by the Editor-in-Chief in consultation with the editorial board and, where appropriate, external experts, following COPE guidelines.

A retraction notice will:

  • clearly identify the retracted article,
  • state the reason for retraction,
  • remain permanently available and linked to the original article.

The original article will be marked as "Retracted" but will remain accessible to preserve the scholarly record.

Conflicts of Interest

All authors, editors, and reviewers must disclose any financial or professional relationships that could influence their work.

Complaints and Appeals Policy

The journal is committed to handling complaints and appeals in a fair, transparent, and timely manner.

Complaints may relate to any aspect of the journal's editorial process, including but not limited to:

  • editorial decisions,
  • peer review process,
  • ethical concerns,
  • delays in publication,
  • conflicts of interest.

Complaints should be submitted in writing to the editorial office via email at: mrn.szerkesztoseg@reformatus.hu

The Editor-in-Chief will acknowledge receipt of the complaint within 5 working days and will investigate the matter in accordance with the journal's policies and COPE guidelines.

If necessary, the complaint may be referred to members of the editorial board or an independent expert. A formal response will be provided within a reasonable timeframe.

Authors have the right to appeal editorial decisions.

Appeals must:

  • be submitted in writing,
  • provide detailed justification,
  • include a clear response to reviewers' comments.

Appeals are reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief and, where appropriate, by additional independent reviewers.

The decision following an appeal is final.

All complaints and appeals are handled in accordance with the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
